Our Story

Zafferano America was established in 2019 by long-time friends Federico de Majo and Barrett Gross. The pair first met in the 1980’s while working for their respective family businesses. For nearly 40 years, they have partnered in selling Italian-designed lighting and glassware in North America. De Majo is a noted Venetian glass designer and entrepreneur who launched the Zafferano glassware brand in 2001. Lighting products were soon added, and with the introduction of the flagship Poldina Pro table lamp in 2018 Zafferano was among the first companies in the world to offer a high-quality battery-powered cordless lamp. The emergence of the Pina Pro table lamp in New York City as a favorite for outdoor dining in 2020 firmly established Zafferano as the global leader in this fast-growing lighting category. The Poldina Pro and Pina Pro have since become two of the best-selling designs in the history of lighting, each having sold millions of units. They can be found in shops, homes, and on restaurant tables around the globe.

Our Design

Federico de Majo was raised in his family’s glass workshop on the isle Murano, where the light from the furnaces, the heat of molten glass, and beauty of the city ignited his passion for design. De Majo took inspiration from the expert glassblowers, the “maestri” who have passed on the secrets of the art from generation to generation over centuries. Italian design is known for its elegance and originality and de Majo’s lamps follow in this tradition as modern objects of exquisite beauty. His vision and love of the color and light of his native Venice are the ongoing inspirations for the Zafferano brand.

Return Policy

If you are not satisfied with an item that you purchased from Zafferano America, returns are accepted within 30 days after delivery for a refund, as long as the item is in its original condition and packaging and includes all accessories (such as chargers). Email info@zafferanoamerica.com with your order number to initiate a return. Items that have been used or modified in any way may not be returned. Customer will pay all return expenses unless otherwise verified with a customer representative.

Although it is unfortunate, items are occasionally damaged in transit or have concealed damage. In the unlikely event that an item you ordered arrives damaged or is defective, you may return the item at no charge for a replacement or a full refund, as long as you report the issue within 4 days after delivery.
